THE SORBARA GROUP is the trade name for a group of privately owned real estate development, management and investment companies. The Group has been a pioneering force in the real estate industry. The Sorbara Group's beginnings trace back to 1942 when Sam Sorbara started a business, known today as ADRIATIC INSURANCE BROKERS LIMITED. Expanding from insurance to real estate brokerage, through SAM SORBARA REAL ESTATE INC. seemed a natural step. He quickly moved from agent to principal and, over the years, developed a philosophy of asset retention. As Sam Sorbara pursued the acquisition and servicing of industrial lands and the construction and property management businesses, the Group developed an expanding portfolio of both owned and managed properties.

Today THE SORBARA GROUP is a fully integrated real estate entity capable of a complete range of services to the real estate development and investment industry in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). THE SORBARA GROUP owns, operates and manages over 6.5 million square feet of industrial, commercial and office properties, a residential apartment portfolio and owns hundreds of acres of land in various stages of development in and around the GTA.

The Group's other businesses include ADRIATIC INSURANCE BROKERS LIMITED, an insurance brokerage business started in 1942 to provide a full range of insurance packages, HADY CONSTRUCTION ASSOCIATES, formed in the 1950's to construct industrial and commercial properties, NUWALL CONTRACTING LIMITED, a masonry contractor and LANDTACTIX INC., which provides planning and development services. ORCHARD RIDGE HOMES is a recent addition to THE SORBARA GROUP, focused on low-rise housing.
